Monitor Trouble Shooting
Here are some basic trouble shooting tips for new monitors:
1.The picture does not appear:
Check to make sure the signal cable is firmly connected in the
socket.
Check to see if the computer system's power is ON.
Check that the Brightness Control is at the appropriate position,
not at the minimum.
2. The Screen is not synchronized:
Check to make sure the signal cable is firmly connected in the
socket.
Check that the output level matches the input level of your computer.
Make sure the signal timing of the computer system is within the
specification of the monitor.
3. The position of the screen is not in the center:
Adjust the H-Size, H-Phase or V-Size, V-Center controls.
4. The screen image has flipped upside down on sideways:
Try pressing Ctrl + Alt + UP Arrow Key, or try Ctrl + Alt + and
a different Arrow Key.
OR... Some graphics cards come with utilities or an option to rotate
your display.
Most likely to be found in the Display/Advanced option.
5. The screen is too bright or too dark:
Check if the Brightness and Contrast control on the monitor are
at the appropriate position, not at the maximum or minimum.
6. The screen is shaking:
Move all objects that emit a magnetic field away from the monitor
(such as a speakers, power adapter or desk fan).
Check if the screen refresh rate is within the specification of
the monitor.
7. Colors are not correct:
Check the cable connection at the back of the monitor. Each pin
in the connection controls a different color. If your screen is
all one color it is possible that not all the pins are fully connected
- OR you may have bent pins that are not fully inserting into the
connection.
8. Monitor displays nothing at all:
Look at the power button - If it is GREEN but you still have no
image on the screen, you may have a defective screen. If it is ORANGE
the signal from the computer is not reaching the monitor. You have
either a defective video card or video cable issue. Check the video
cable first.
